Celebrate London - March 2019 - The World's End
The World’s End
Kings Road, SW10
Chelsea’s World’s End Estate, designed in 1965 by Eric Lyons, was an inner-city translation of the principles which underpinned his suburban ‘Span’ housing: ‘community as the goal, shared landscape as the means, and modern, controlled design as the expression’. Promising ‘village style living in the heart of London’ the irregular, cantilevered towers have become a distinctive feature of the Thames skyline and remain enduringly popular with residents.
